Well, if you're looking for a sweet, romantic movie to see with your loved one that will make your heart feel all fluttery for Valentine's Day, then "Valentine's Day" may not be the right choice for you. But, if you're looking for something to remind you of the reality of human love, its ups and downs, disappointments and surprises, while still managing to make you laugh, you may have found the one.
"Valentines Day," set in today's Los Angeles, takes us through a day in the lives of several different people as they face the pressures and expectations associated with their love lives. With a star-studded cast that rivals none, this film is filled with some of America's favorites. Similar to "Love Actually," the racy, clever British Christmas film, "Valentine's Day" leads us in and out of a variety of scenarios over and over again. But I must say that it is not quite as good. With less compelling story lines which leave the viewer slightly less interested in the characters' happiness, "Valentines Day" is not nearly as emotionally captivating.
However fun, this film is not as romantic and whimsical as some have come to expect their Valentine's weekend flick to be. If you're looking for the perfect date movie, and your sense of humor is not sarcastic, I would skip this one for now. But if poking fun at reality and escaping all the lovey-dovey Valentine's Day hubbub is what you are wanting this weekend, then this is likely a fun choice for you.
