If movies were based solely on the content and message alone, then "Letters to God" would be a Best Picture nomination!
Produced by one of the producers of the films "Facing the Giants" and "Fireproof"......"Letters to God" is not your typical "Hollywood" movie. LTG goes WAY outside the "normal" box. Risk is something very rarely seen with movies today. Most movies are produced and made solely for the bottom line, the great box office receipts, the profits, the take, the glory, and the return..... not so with LTG.
LTG is a movie made to help others.....literally. A movie to give hope and encourage those who struggle with a possible life threatening disease, a great personal loss, a mistake that costs you dearly or general problems in life that we all struggle with. It's a movie, inspired by a true story, about a boy named Tyler who is fighting Cancer. His family is already struggling with the loss of their father and the mom is just trying to hang on, and keep it all together. Also involved, is the new mailman, Brady, who is battling some of his own demons, after losing custody of his son due to a serious drinking problem he has. Tyler writes, letters to God, in his way of communicating to him and through his simple faith and trust in God, changes the lives of all those around him, through his letters.
I went into this movie ready for it to tug at my heart, just by watching the preview before hand. I don't think there was a dry eye that left that theater after the film was over. It was truly inspirational and made me think about just how good life really is, even when things seem to go wrong or bad and how 1 person, no matter how young or old..... can really make a huge difference!
I love the fact that these people are taking a huge risk to spread a positive message of hope in a world where hope is so desperately needed today! This movie is NOT about making money, but in helping people....period! It's a movie that everyone should go see when it comes out on April 9th of this year and the makers are counting on word of mouth to make it happen.
I will be one of the people asking everyone I know to go and support it! As they say in the movie....... "Hope is contagious!" and I hope that "Letters to God" will spread to tons of moviegoers and will also be contagious!
