Bryans Best and Worst of 2009

by Bryan Mero

At this time of year there are always a list. This will be a list of the best and worst movies of 2009. Let me change that...the movies I enjoyed the most and others that were a disappointment.

My Top 5:

5. Monsters vs Aliens - the first True 3D movie not only looked all 3D-ish but also a fun story.

4. District 9 - Powerful sci-fi/political story that made you think and wince all in the moment.

3. The Proposal - a fun comedy with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds and the perfect date movie.

2. The Blind Side - Sandra Bullock again but here's a true story about family helping a homeless student and helping him become an NFL star.

1. Star Trek - JJ Abrams re-imagined Star Trek and pulled it off bringing new life to an old franchise. I'm looking forward to more!

Honorable Mentions: G.I. Joe, UP, Avatar

My top 5 Disappointments:

5. 2012 - how many times can you escape sure death? apparently over 10 if your the main characters.

4. Terminator Salvation - definitely not the terminator I was hoping for...I love Christian Bale but did not like his John Conner.

3. Transformers 2 - at what point did Michael Bay turn Transformers into a foul mouth, toilet humor type movie?

2. Taken - going way beyond any realm of possibility or belief.

1. Watchmen - I was so looking forward to this movie and the attention to visual detail was excellent, but the way they put the story together and dialogue (almost word for word from the graphic novel) left me wondering why I like it in the first place.

Unhonorable Mentions: Paul Blart Mall Cop, G-Force
